Delamere founded in 1910 and designed by the renowned Herbert Fowler is often described as a \u2018hidden gem\u2019. Its rolling fairways are interspersed with heather and gorse, crowned by fast, subtle greens which are typical of Fowler\u2019s early designs. As a result the course offers a fair but tough challenge and yesterday was no exception.<\/p>
Calm conditions made for some exceptional scoring and for once the greenkeepers were on the side of the Golfers having cut back almost all the rough and despite Paul’s request there were some easier pin positions with only 6 pairs that didn’t break Par. One eagle and numerous birdies on the Par 3’s meant Delamere Forest Golf Club again proved to be a fantastic test of everyone’s game – which some of you managed to pass with flying colours whilst some of you may need another attempt to beat this beautiful course.<\/p>
Our winners with some local knowledge, Dan Gibson & Joel Cann playing off scratch and one managed to score 45 points with a bogie free card littered with birdies was enough to pip Chris Moore & Chris Ward who set the morning’s target of 44 points. A tough school at our events now with 2\/3 of the field playing from single figures.<\/p>
