{"id":13991,"date":"2022-07-15T09:15:12","date_gmt":"2022-07-15T09:15:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.thegolfguide.co.uk\/?p=13991"},"modified":"2022-07-15T09:15:14","modified_gmt":"2022-07-15T09:15:14","slug":"callaway-reveals-unique-2022-july-major-bag-for-this-weeks-open","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/anvilcloud.co.uk\/devgolf\/callaway-reveals-unique-2022-july-major-bag-for-this-weeks-open\/","title":{"rendered":"CALLAWAY REVEALS UNIQUE 2022 JULY MAJOR BAG FOR THIS WEEK\u2019S OPEN"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em>Commemorative design created by a local student is brought to life as a Limited Edition Bag to be used by Callaway Staff Professionals at the 150<sup>th<\/sup> Open at St Andrews<\/em><\/p><p><em>(Chessington, UK \u2013 July 11, 2022)<\/em>&nbsp;On the eve of the 150<sup>th<\/sup> Open, <a href=\"https:\/\/eu.callawaygolf.com\/\"><strong>Callaway<\/strong><\/a> today reveals a very special and unique Staff Bag, designed by a young student from St Andrews, that will be used by its 34 players at this week\u2019s tournament.<\/p><p>Budding artists from two St Andrews schools \u2013 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.madras.fife.sch.uk\/\"><strong>Madras College<\/strong><\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.stleonards-fife.org\/\"><strong>St Leonards<\/strong><\/a> \u2013 were commissioned by Callaway and St Andrews Links to design a St Andrews inspired golf bag, and 17-year-old Iona Turner had her winning design chosen by Callaway executives and a team of Staff Professionals, from a shortlist of 10.<\/p><p>The Tour pro judging panel included Danny Willett, the 2021 Alfred Dunhill Links champion, and Min Woo Lee, who <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=LA0OvJN4Loo\"><strong>played The Old Course in reverse last year<\/strong><\/a> to commemorate the 200<sup>th<\/sup> birthday of four-time Open winner, Old Tom Morris.<\/p><p>As an extension of the design challenge, larger than life sculptures of the final 10, celebrating the creative excellence of pupils from each school, have been positioned in various locations around St Andrews running up to The Open.<\/p><p>These specially-commissioned sculptures formed a new attraction, <em>The Big Bag Trail<\/em>, a route from which locals and visitors can explore the town. It remains open until Sunday 17<sup>th<\/sup> &nbsp;July.<\/p><ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>Read more about <em>The Big Bag Trail<\/em><\/strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/landmarkmedia.shorthandstories.com\/the-big-bag-trail\/index.html\"><strong>HERE<\/strong><\/a><\/li><\/ul><p>Iona\u2019s winning design takes inspiration from many of St Andrews\u2019 iconic and recognisable landmarks, including the famous Swilcan Bridge on the 18<sup>th<\/sup> hole of The Old Course, the colourful houses by the harbour, the historic cathedral (where Old Tom Morris is buried), and the town\u2019s beautiful seafront location.<\/p><p>After being selected as the winning artist, Iona said: \u201cI\u2019m thrilled that my artwork was chosen. It has been a fantastic experience to be involved in this design project with my fellow students. Open, the 10 larger-than-life sculptures from <em>The Big Bag Trail<\/em> will be auctioned at a special evening event at the Tom Morris Bar &amp; Grill in the St Andrews Links Clubhouse on July 19, with all proceeds going to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.chas.org.uk\/\"><strong>CHAS<\/strong><\/a> (Children\u2019s Hospices Across Scotland) and <a href=\"https:\/\/ssf.org.uk\/\"><strong>Scottish Sports Futures<\/strong><\/a> (Changing Lives Through Sport).<\/p><p>This special auction, that will celebrate the community acheivements of the bag design competition and <em>The Big Bag Trail<\/em>, is
