From celebrating its fascinating historical and cultural heritage to taking part in a series of sporting events and challenges, the stunning island of Madeira has something for all golfers to ensure they make the most of a visit to the Portuguese archipelago this autumn.<\/p>

Summer might be drawing to a close, but the idyllic island destination is determined that the fun continues for visitors after unveiling an impressive calendar of events for October and November that celebrate its unique customs and traditions.<\/p>

Commencing proceedings in October will be the <\/strong>Madeira Organ Festival<\/a> which, taking place throughout the month, features a series of concerts at venues across the main island headlined by nationally and internationally renowned master organ players.<\/p>

One of the island\u2019s most popular annual events, the Madeira Nature Festival<\/a>, will this year be held from October 3-8 and offers golfers an enthralling way to discover some of the most beautiful places on the island while experiencing various sports and activities.<\/p>

Players can try their hand at mountain biking or trekking through a network of mountain paths, waterfall and forest nature trails including a visit to the Laurissilva forest \u2013 a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1999.<\/p>

The sporting theme continues in October with the seventh edition of the Ultra Madeira<\/a> trail-running events (October 7-8) and Rally Madeira Legend<\/a> (October 26-28). The former, which has events for both juniors and adults, features a schedule of five races ranging from eight kilometres to a marathon 83km distance covering more than 3,800 metres of climbing, while the latter is being held to commemorate the 60th<\/sup> anniversary of the \u2018Volta \u00e0 Ilha da Madeira\u2019 motorsport race.<\/p>

Completing the autumn line-up is the XXVI Madeira International Bridge Open<\/a>, which is perfect for golfers who prefer to relax in more leisurely fashion with a game of cards. Founded in 1998, the tournament has become more and more popular each year and the 2023 edition will take place at the Vidamar Resort Hotel from November 2-13.<\/p>

Voted the world\u2019s leading island destination for the last eight years in a row at the World Travel Awards, Madeira features three first-class 18-hole golf courses \u2013 Palheiro Golf<\/a>, Clube de Golfe Santo da Serra<\/a> and Porto Santo<\/a> Golfe – as well as an array of outstanding historic, cultural and lifestyle experiences.<\/p>

Located approximately 1,000km from the European mainland \u2013 and just 500km from the African continent \u2013 the island destination enjoys an amazingly mild climate, ranging from 25\u00b0c in the summer to 17\u00b0c in the winter, with very mild average temperatures and moderate humidity, making it the perfect year-round location for a golf break.<\/p>
