Quinta do Lago<\/a> has received three major honours at the 2023 World Golf Awards, claiming the title of \u2018Europe\u2019s Best Golf Venue\u2018 as well as the acclaimed South Course once again named as \u2018Europe\u2019s Best Golf Course\u2019 and \u2018Portugal\u2019s Best Golf Course\u2019.<\/p>

The annual World Golf Awards, which reward excellence in the golf tourism market, were hosted at the exclusive Radisson Blu Hotel Yas Island and Yas Links Abu Dhabi on Monday, October 23. Quinta do Lago fought off fierce competition to land three titles, further establishing the resort as Europe\u2019s premier golf and lifestyle destination.<\/p>

Sean Moriarty, CEO of Quinta do Lago, was on hand to receive the accolades and said: \u201cIt\u2019s an honour to be recognised at the World Golf Awards once again. Despite enjoying a lot of great success in recent years, the resort is not one to rest on its laurels \u2013 we\u2019re always looking to move forward.<\/p>

This is the second year running that the South Course, an eight-time host of the Portuguese Open, has been named \u2018Europe\u2019s Best Golf Course\u2019. In 2020, the layout was the subject of a \u20ac7 million upgrade, and winning the award last year was a fitting way to sign off Quinta do Lago\u2019s 50th anniversary celebrations.<\/p>

The renovation of the South Course, which further highlighted the resort\u2019s commitment to sustainability, encompassed all fairways, bunkers, tees and greens. Improved irrigation and a switch to new species of grass have significantly bolstered water efficiency across the layout, drastically reducing waste in a key area. However, the resort\u2019s two other 18-hole championship golf courses \u2013 the North Course and Laranjal \u2013 have not been overlooked in the quest for golf\u2019s greener future.<\/p>

Amplified biodiversity, reduced plastic usage and homegrown fruit and vegetables are among the key concepts implemented throughout all of the resort\u2019s courses, culinary options and accommodation. Quinta do Lago\u2019s reputation as a pioneer in sustainable golf and travel has only been reinforced by the latest awards, which prove that its green approach can offer the same standard of world-class golf and travel that guests have come to expect.<\/p>
