The Dunas Course at Terras da Comporta<\/a> \u2013 the world\u2019s most talked-about new golf course design project in 2023 \u2013 is preparing for another memorable year in the global spotlight after extending its partnership with leading marcomms company Azalea.<\/p>

The par-71 layout near Lisbon, David McLay-Kidd\u2019s first golf course in mainland Europe, has made headlines around the world since first opening for play in June \u2013 including being named as the \u2018World\u2019s Best New Golf Course\u2019 and \u2018Europe\u2019s Best New Golf Course\u2019 at the 2023 World Golf Awards.<\/p>

Players and members of the golf industry from the UK, Europe and beyond have lavished praise on the course since it launched and Rodrigo Ulrich, director of golf at Terras da Comporta, believes the best is still to come after finalising a new contract with Azalea.<\/p>

Ulrich said: \u201cIt\u2019s been an amazing first year for The Dunas Course and we couldn\u2019t have achieved the success that we have without the brilliant PR work that Azalea has done. They have shared the vision that we have to make Terras da Comporta one of the world\u2019s elite golfing destinations since the start and it was an easy decision to extend our partnership.<\/p>

\u201cThe coverage that we\u2019ve received from all over the world since we opened the course has been incredible and the great thing is that, with Azalea\u2019s expertise, this is going to grow and grow as more and more people become aware of what we are building here.\u201d<\/p>

Located one hour south of Lisbon, The Dunas Course has been created over 84 hectares of natural, sandy terrain on the coast in a secluded setting on the edge of the Sado Estuary Nature Reserve.<\/p>

To coincide with the Azalea announcement, Terras da Comporta has released a new set of images<\/a> of The Dunas Course taken by up-and-coming golf photographer James Hogg. Hogg first visited Terras da Comporta in January and returned to reshoot the course in November, capturing the layout and its surroundings in a glorious new light.<\/p>

Azalea director, Andy Barwell, said: \u201cIt\u2019s not often that a new golf course development captures the imagination of the media to the extent that The Dunas has Course. It has been a great privilege to work with Rodrigo and the team at Terras da Comporta, and we look forward to supporting them as the destination develops further over the next 12 months and beyond.\u201d<\/p>

Owned by Vanguard Properties, Portugal\u2019s largest real estate developer who took ownership of the development in 2019, Terras da Comporta features two large developments: Torre, comprising 365 hectares of land and where a second course designed by Sergio Garcia is being built (set to follow in 2025), and Dunas, which occupies around 1,011 hectares.<\/p>

Complementing The Dunas Course will be a new clubhouse and golf academy. Away from the fairways, an array of lifestyle activities will be available including horse-riding, wellness, tennis, padel, pickleball and many other sports, with a wide range of plots for hotels, tourist and residential condominiums also on offer.<\/p>
